Yeah, I'm already sick of seeing the likes of VCU get in, now they have a shot to make it like once every other year instead of once every 3 years.

vcu has nothing in common with ut or uk of recent years...vcu is a midmajor program that has overacheived in recent years putting out nba caliber talent and is a team that honestly the big teams dread seeing on their tourney draw. ask duke and pit in '07 and then ucla in '09.

remember in '07 vcu was a double ot game away from making the sweet 16. beating a 6 and then a 3 seed. who knows what could have been *sigh* not saying national title, but it could have been a hell of a run.

and then the '09 team took ucla down to the final shot, we probably would have gotten housed by nova like ucla did in the second round, but still *sigh*

UK is a program that has underachieved for the past 10 or so years, i mean at one point uk was the gold standard of college basketball as far as success goes. they lost a bit of the luster, and coach cap is in the process of bringing the luster back. but comparing uk to vcu is asinine...i just do it to get under your skin and it appears to be successful, the fact that we can even debate vcu vs uk's recent success shows how far uk had fallen!

as for ut, they are a really solid program now that has a great coach, you should not be laughing at them at all. especially considering they actually have had more success than uk in recent years.

oh and ali are you for or against this expansion, because i think it is stupid as i said previously. they might as well have every team in the tourney and just make it a season long event at this point. for the major conferences now the regular season is pretty much meaningless.

How has UT been solid? The furthest they've EVER made it is the sweet 16 and we've been to the Elite Eight just 5 years ago...

I just said "as if 64+1" isn't enough. This expansion makes no sense because the way it's set up is that 32 teams basically get a bye and the play-in game is played among 64 other teams so you get to the smaller 64 team playoff.

It's just a stupid fucking expansion and makes the NCAA tourney not mean as much. I think it was better when only 32 teams were invited, but, hey, what does it matter anymore...

When the NCAA was at 32, everyone was bitching that there weren't enough teams.

64 is the perfect formula. Hell, the +1 (aka play in game) is shitty enough, the land of 64 should stay just the way it is.

But the Big East is pissed that more of their teams can't make the tourney (as rumor has it) and they are the ones pushing hardest for the 96 team tourney...
