Pro-abortion rights activists demand CBS pull an anti-abortion Super Bowl ad.
He was the first sophomore in history to win a Heisman trophy. He was the first college football player both to rush and pass for 20 touchdowns in a season. Last year, he led his college team, the Florida Gators, to their second national championship in three years. At 6 feet 3 inches and 245 pounds, Tim Tebow may go down in history as the greatest college football player who ever lived. And to think none of that would have happened if not for a decision his mother made nearly 23 years ago. That is the message of a controversial new ad starring Tebow and his mother, Pam. Paid for by the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family, the ad tells the story of Bob and Pam Tebow, who was pregnant with their fifth child when the couple travelled to the Philippines on a missionary trip. http://abcnews.go.com/WN/tim-tebow-s...ory?id=9667638 |

1. Closest Tebow will get to a Superbowl.
2. Maybe a good team will 'Abort' his career. |

THE DOUBLEYOU TEE EFF! haha, Anyway, all Ic an say is there are 100,000 things people will bitch about including beer commercials, but if people are willing to spend the money for a 30 second spot, they can have it. Hell, if the pro-choice (no such thing as pro-abortion, btw) group wants to make one about the freedome to choose an abortion or not, more power to them!

What a non-issue to get worked up about.
Here's an idea, don't want to watch the commercial? Turn your damn tv off. |

Any Pro-Choice groups ponying up the dough to make a commercial? Fox and Goodell may be of the Christian Right wing, but money still talks to them more than God does.

I usually put the TV on mute when Tebow comes on anyway. Nothing's changing for me here.

Same difference. Focus on the Famliy has a lobby just as the pro gay community does. It's a polarizing political issue and CBS wants no part of it.

As I was saying. One is advertising a product (the dating site) and the other is just trying to press a political issue.

I get that but what I'm saying is that the dating site is being denied for political issues.

The site is being made a political issue when there clearly isn't one.

This is a FAMILY show, so of course they're not going to show it. Hell, they had to edit the GoDaddy commercial (after the first one) multiple timest he past few years because it was getting raunchy. This is about a business having their right to put whatever the fuck they want on there. Shit, you're pro-homosexual rights, as well as I am, but I'm willing to bet you don't have pictures of naked men in your house and do you know why? It's not because of some political action you took, it's YOUR CHOICE to do WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT with YOUR SPACE. So, get over it or dont' watch the show.

So a commercial for a gay dating site would automatically have greased up gay naked guys going at each other? What kind of commercials are you watching? ( I actually took one for {I typed FROM here initally, which would have been a dis-ASS-ter :ninja} the team and looked at the site. It's very tasteful, with the most risque thing allowed on a profile is shirtless pics.)The problem is, Ali, as you know, is that NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX are all Federal broadcasting companies that receive federal subsides. Hence the reason that you see each of these networks show ads from both sides of the spectrum so that they do not appear to be BIASED when they are receiving federal dollars. Why do you think the cable news network are so biased? Because they are on CABLE they are not regulated as much. It's exactly the point. Why is Focus on the Family allowed to purchase airtime and Mancrunch is not? Regardless of the editing of the GoDaddy commercials, they were STILL risque for broadcast network and STILL caused an uproar. Plus, after the "wardrobe malfunction" the Super Bowl lost any credibility of being family friendly. Not to mention that most responsible parents I know don't let their kids stay up past halftime to watch a game that ends close to midnight. So don't give me that crap. This decision REEKS of political implications to high hell. It's pathetic and biased, especially for a broadcast network that is subsided by taxpayer dollars. The sad part here is that the BUSINESS is getting turned down while the SPECIAL INTEREST is getting airtime. I guess the Supreme Court isn't the only one to fuck this up, eh? Finally, is there a law that precludes me from watching a show and bitching about the content. Geez, when did I move to Saudi Arabia? |

Yea, because the sensible thing to do is skip a 3 hour show because of a 30 second ad.
So much for common fucking sense. If you don't like what I have to say, you don't have to respond. |

heh Anyway, the point is this, Marty...If it's two grown men making out, or moving in to one another, yes, that is borderline (you and I both know the Super Bowl & NFL have tried to clean up their image since the Janet Jackson fiasco.) They stopped with anything even slightly raunchy, they don't show ads for the Lingerie Bowl anymore and, the big one, is the "cleaned up" the halftime show. The closest thing to sex you can get with the NFL anymore, even though the biggest % of viewers are probably 18-35 year old men, are the cheerleaders. And I support their right to choose. I also support the right of the gay dating site to keep trying to appeal (even if I think they'd have more luck on Lifetime) but it'll probably need to be a completely new ad.

this is why politics drive me up the wall.... Why should it be a political issue to be a fan of not aborting a baby. Especially in the case of the Tebows (I am not going to go into the story). What in the world does politics have to do with it (should do with it). It is this pick a side no matter what or if you agree with everything they say/do. It is silliness. I will make up my own mind on what I believe and/or choose to watch/listen too whatever...... without thinking twice about whether or not it is a republican or democratic viewpoint. I don't care.... it is MY viewpoint. DONE and DONE |

Besides, if they can show "Will & Grace" on network TV, then "a harmless and somewhat jokey make out session between dudes in football jerseys" can't be more risque than that. Besides, how is censoring homosexuality from a mostly adult audience "Cleaning up their image?" Unless you're the President of Iran, I'm pretty sure we all know gays exist in our country. This REEKS of political implications. It REEKS. It's a borderline 1st Amendment issue. Ho nice of CBS to choose the wholesome commercials for me to watch! |

The funny thing is, I'm not a proponent of abortion from a personal view. I also realize that it's not my decision what a woman does with her body. Therefore, I'm not going to use my resources to try and force someone to live the exact same way I live. When a company receives federal TAX dollars, they should not show any level of bias on any issue. When they turn own an ad from one side of the spectrum and allow an ad from another side, it's BIAS. |

Yet they aired this one a couple years ago Granted they added a little humor to the end, which caused an uproar from the gay community resulting in that commercial being banned. And the Mancrunch commercial is no different than that Snickers commercial. Instead of doing something "manly", the black guy turns his head and looks at the camera with a "WTF" look. So in essence, they are the same. Both have pro gay and anti in the add. If they can air the Snickers, they can air the Mancrunch. They more than likely were denied on the lack of professionalism in the camera work for the commercial. Most Super Bowl commercials look like they are Hollywood produced. This one looks like it was shot at home by those guys using an outdated video camera you can buy at a flea market for a fifty bucks. Or they were trying to jockey for one of the commercial time slots that is usually dominated by the top ad guys during the Super Bowl like Budweiser, Bud Light, etc. Not everything is political. Plus, I asked for pro choice, not gay. |
